Porcelain skin (Credit: ko_an) If you’re planning to have a skin resurfacing treatment, you can choose between the different options – Ablative, non-ablative and fraxel.
Ablative treatments entirely remove the outer layer of the skin. Ablative procedures can remove fine lines, deep discoloration, pre-cancerous cells and scars. Although this treatment is not as serious as a facelift, but the results can be just as dramatic.
Non-ablative treatment is another method used in skin resurfacing. It does not injure the outer layers of the skin and does not require any recovery time. There is no significant scabbing and peeling. Discoloration and visible veins are removed from the outer layers of the skin and collagen production is stimulated.
Fraxel resurfacing is a combination of ablative and non-ablative treatment. It reaches deep into the dermis, but only in tiny areas, leaving surrounding tissues undamaged.
