
If you’ve just had an injectable filler to make your lips look fuller, this is what you should know about the post-injection stage.
There will be some swelling and bruising after the lip augmentation injections. You can use an icepack to reduce the swelling. The pain can be managed with prescribed pain killers. Your lips will feel more sensitive and it’s best to avoid lipstick and kissing till they heal properly. If you’ve had lip augmentation surgery, then you may want to ask someone to drop you home.
It’s advisable to stick to a total liquid diet till your incisions heal. Try to avoid talking too much and laughing during the first week after your lip augmentation surgery. It’s a good idea to rinse your mouth with saline water a few times a day and keep the incisions clean.
Watch for infections and avoid putting any lotions and creams on your lips. You should also watch your lips for any oozing and if you notice anything or feel any discomfort, you must contact your surgeon. You should avoid sunlight until your lips are totally healed and then use a lip balm with an SPF factor.
Your lips will be numb for a month or so and you may want to be more careful with hot food. There will be regular follow-up check-ups where your cosmetic surgeon will check the healing process.
