Most of us have grown up on a staple diet of Fairytales – a simple, good-hearted girl called Cinderella; Snow White and her Seven Dwarfs; the story of the princess who woke up after a 100 years; and, of course, Rapunzel, the princess in the tower who had ultra-long hair.
Though there might have been a Rapunzell in the ancient times of Kings and Queens, there are many women who are aspiring to be the modern Rapunzel. So, how does this Rapunzel get long, lustrous tresses, if she does not have the patience to let them grow to a decent length? Simple, she resorts to hair extensions, which give her long hair within a few hours.
Hair extensions were once the prerogative of the rich and famous who could afford the then exorbitant cost of this procedure. But now it’s for all those want to sport luxurious hair without wanting to grow their own tresses.
Hair extensions are semi-permanent as they are removable and are applied through the fusion method. Small sections of long hair can be added to your own hair strand by strand.
In the fusion method about 20 to 50 strands of human extension hair have a warm protein glue applied all around it. Using a clear plastic template to isolate the portion of natural hair from the rest of the scalp, the glued extension hair is then attached to a small portion of a client\'s hair, which is pulled through a hole in the template.
The two lots of hair are rolled together in the fingers until a smooth protein bond is made. Then work begins on another strand. This is why it takes so long to do this tedious procedure.
If you are planning to try this method out, make sure that your hair is clean and free of conditioners. And if you already have hair extensions and planning to remove them, then do visit a salon where tolls will be used to first soften and then crack the glue bond.
