Celebrities at this year’s Oscar ceremony may have got offers of plastic surgery. Traditionally, presenters of awards have received \'goodie bags\', worth over $100,000, but last year the killjoys in the US tax department put a stop to that by announcing that this year all such donated goodies will be subject to tax.
But dozens of unofficial gift bags are still on offer. They attempt to circumvent the reach of the tax office by offering vouchers for goods and services that are not taxable unless they actually are used.
One publicity company is offering consolation bags for all the losing Oscar nominees filled with some $75,000 worth of goodies, including Botox treatments, to hide those lines.
Another ploy to grab the attention of the stars is the establishment of luxurious \'branded retreats\'. One such retreat, Soho House, was set up for Oscar week at a cost of $1 million in a Beverley Hills mansion. Also on offer at the house were vouchers for free eye surgery, Botox treatments and cosmetic surgery.
